John Whaite slams trolls who refuse to watch unnatural Strictly pairing

Dec 13, 2021

John Whaite has blasted the "vicious" trolls who told him that they wouldn't watch him in the final of Strictly Come Dancing.

The Strictly star slammed the trolls as being "vicious" and "empty" people as he exposed some of the comments he's received over the past few weeks whilst being in the BBC competition.

It comes as the 32-year-old has made it to the grand final of Strictly after winning the dance-off on Sunday night (December 12).

Taking to Instagram with a snap of him dancing with his professional partner Johannes Radebe, John penned a powerful message to anyone who has sent him a hateful message.

The Bake Off winner started by listing some of the comments he's received before explaining that the world is steadily growing "kinder" and "more loving".

He wrote: "'Woke', 'Fixed', 'Box-ticking', 'Agenda', 'Bias', 'Proving a point', 'Not natural', 'Won't be watching the final'

"You vicious, empty people are a dying breed. You’ll be left behind as the world becomes kinder, more empathic, more loving, more tolerant, more understanding.

"The only grievance you should feel is your own failure to evolve."

Dan Walker penned a series of fire-emojis in support.

GBBO 2018 winner Dr Rahul Mandal said: "Always remember you are amazing and there are thousands of people who love you…love you both…and you know what…Love always wins!!"

One fan added: "I’m so sorry anyone is trying to ruin your special moment. We are all so proud of you and so excited for you. Your piece last night was beautiful xxx"

John and Johannes had landed in the dance off against Rhys Stephenson and his partner Nancy Xu – but all four judges opted to save John and Johannes.

The pair had danced a contemporary ballet routine to Adele's emotional hit Hometown Glory on Saturday, and their second routine of the semi-final was a Jive to Higher Power by Coldplay.

The duo bagged an amazing score of 39 points from the judges, and they could break show records as the first ever male couple to lift the Glitterball Trophy.

John and Johannes will compete against Giovanni and Rose, and AJ and Kai in the final.
