Love Island 2019: Molly-Mae and Tommy will miss out on winner’s crown – here’s how

Jul 26, 2019

Love Island will crown one couple the winners of the 2019 series on Monday night and ahead of the grand finale, it seems two contestants are storming ahead in terms of popularity with viewers.

Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague both arrived into the villa as bombshells, and following their first date in the Hideaway hot tub, Molly-Mae made it clear she wanted to be with the professional boxer.

Fans of the reality dating show saw their relationship head through turbulent times with the arrival of Maura Higgins, but Tommy finally chose Molly-Mae and the pair have not looked back since.

Last night, all the Islanders were tasked with the baby challenge, and of course, Tommy, Molly-Mae and TJ passed with flying colours.

But according to global social agency Social Chain, Tommy and Molly-Mae could be pipped to the post by another couple.

From June 3rd to July 24th, Social Chain gathered dated from across Twitter and revealed Molly-Mae and Tommy to be the most popular and talked about couple in the villa this year.

Collectively they had nearly half a million (461,447) Twitter mentions, with 28 percent of them being positive.

Having been together officially for over 40 days, they have the highest Instagram followers, Molly with 2.2million and Tommy with 1.8million.

But with Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins receiving 27 percent of positive tweets, could they be crowned King and Queen at the last minute?

However, after Anna Vakili and Jordan Hames explosive row Tuesday night, Maura and Curtis relationship seemed to be on the brink.

Last night however, they reconciled and seemed to be back on track, but having been together for less time than Molly and Tommy, do they stand a chance?

To add to this, Social Chain revealed 33% of Tweets posted about the couple were negative, so it seems fans are divided over the Irish beauty and professional Ballroom dancer.

In terms of best performing couple photos, Molly and Tommy are in the lead with a couple photo on Instagram heralding 288,000 likes.

Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea are slightly behind with 122,000 likes on a couple snapshot, followed by Curtis and Maura with 116,000 likes.

Wildly popular Ovie Soko and his partner India Reynolds similarly have 107,000 likes on an image of the couple.

Who would you like to win?

With only three more days left in the series, fans needn’t worry about the Love Island shaped who left in their lives, because the show will be back next year, not for one series, but two.

After ratings for this year’s series soared through the roof, it seems bosses are keen to keep fans hooked.

ITV announced earlier in the week their plans to have a winter version of the show with the villa located in South Africa.

It is thought this series will run for less time than the summer one, which will return to Majorca.

Love Island airs week nights at 9pm on ITV.
