Love Island fans were losing over Amber Gill’s brutal putdown after finding out Michael Griffiths had dumped her for Joanna Chimonides.
Amber was fuming after the recoupling ceremony, and while she stood with the girls away from Michael and Joanna she muttered that Joanna was a ‘dead ting’. Which, to put it politely, basically means she doesn’t rate her looks.
She told the girls: ‘I’ll be fine. She’s a dead ting so what am I supposed be like, upset?’
Joanna unfortunately overheard her comment and then agreed with Michael that it made her sound childish.
Viewers – some of which had no idea what the insult meant – were stunned by the catty moment and the phrase was soon trending on Twitter.
Some accused Amber of being ‘childish’ and ‘jealous’ of Joanna, and after feeling sorry for her last night, they rounded on her.
‘Nah that dead ting comment from Amber was actually childish,’ one viewer fumed.
Another tweet read: ‘Amber just looked at Joanna and said “she’s a dead ting anyway” and you lot still wanna scream that she isn’t immature? Ok.’
‘They’re calling Joanna a dead ting ? Stinks of jealousy,’ a further comment read.
One viewer fumed: ‘“He left you for what” “dead ting” nahhhh absolute schoolgirl behaviour from Anna and Amber ? grow up.’
Even as they prepared to go for a chat together, Joanna was still smarting over the ‘dead ting’ comment, with Amber admitting that she is already ‘in beef’. Too right.
Elsewhere in the episode, Curtis Pritchard broke Amy Hart’s, well, heart, by admitting that he did try and crack on with someone else while she was in Casa Amor.
In floods of tears, Amy said: ‘You’ve made me look like an utter mug. From what I can see you have no respect for me, you don’t care, if you cared about me you wouldn’t have done that.
‘I can’t believe, I never thought you’d do this to me, you’re the perfect man after all.’
She later fumed: ‘That’s not the Curtis I know. That’s not the person I fell in love with. He’s a dancer, he’s a fucking actor is what he is.’
Love Island airs daily at 9pm on ITV2.
