NCIS has seen plenty of upheaval with the cast but the show must go on, now with Agent Alden Parker (played by Gary Cole) leading the way. The CBS police procedural welcomed him to the team at the end of series 18 and despite losing Agent Leroy Gibbs (Mark Harmon), fans have slowly started to warm to him. Few details are known about him at this point but actor Cole has revealed Parker will have a “tragic” backstory.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from NCIS.
Since Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) made Parker team leader, he has been seen making an effort with the other agents.
He has tried to reassure them he knows it will be different but he will do his best for all of them.
But Parker has confused his colleagues and fans as it appears he wants to be part of the team but also keep them at arms length.
While speaking to TV Insider about Parker’s past, Cole said: “There’s a situation that did not go according to plan, and something tragic happened. He’s purposely kind of an enigma.”
Hopefully, fans will start to learn a little more about Gibbs’ replacement as time goes on.
When will NCIS return?
NCIS season 19 kicked off on Monday, September 30, on CBS and has been on screens almost every week since.
Episode seven Docked made its debut on November 8 and viewers were left disappointed when they realised the latest episode wouldn’t air this week.
As with many shows in America, NCIS usually takes a few breaks throughout a season being broadcasted.
Unfortunately, it is still going to be a couple of weeks before the drama is back.
NCIS season 19, episode eight will be airing on CBS on Monday, November 22.
The series will resume its usual schedule from then on as episode nine is already listed for the following week on November 29.
As of yet though, there is no official information on what episode eight will be about.
CBS has so far kept a tight lid on both the instalment’s title and plot.

There is, however, more details on the following ninth episode of NCIS.
The episode Collective Memory is going to be a very unique one indeed as it will involve a hologram for evidence.
Episode nine’s description reads: “When a hotshot financial advisor is found shot at a naval station, NCIS investigates the case by interviewing the victim’s three-dimensional hologram of herself, which she created before her death.”
This is something Gibbs never came across in his time so it would have been interesting to see what his reaction would have been.
Gibbs had been suspended from NCIS in season 18 after he attacked a man who had been killing dogs.
He went on his own adventure while he was away from the service, tracking down a serial killer with his new friend investigative journalist Marcie Warren (Pam Dawber).
When it was all over, Gibbs decided it was time to take a step back and settled in Alaska where he said it was the most at peace he had felt in years.
NCIS season 19 will continue on Monday, November 22, on CBS.
