AS restrictions ease, every member of generation lockdown is champing at the bit to go on holiday – and now a new TV show will follow them as they finally let loose.
Six-part documentary series Once Upon A Time In Zante, will film a group of youngsters as they travel to the Greek party island.
As a result of Covid, they have been stuck indoors for almost 18 months, missing chances to have fun.
The youngsters will also have been unable to enjoy necking WKD on sun loungers, snogging strangers and using sun cream to write rude words on the burning back of a dozing pal.
Programme makers may be hoping for a real-life version of The Inbetweeners movie, which followed the misadventures of Will, Simon, Jay and Neil on a lads’ sun-kissed holiday.
Speaking about the young people on the documentary, commissioning editor Anna Miralis said: “Having missed out on so much over the past year or so it will be great to see how their attitudes towards this rite-of-passage holiday might have changed.
"Or will they simply be out in the Med desperate for sun, sea and normality?”
The documentary will also look at the hard-hit locals in the Mediterranean hotspot who rely on tourists to keep their businesses afloat.
They have been keen for them to return to hand their over their cash at the bars, beaches and stores.
And I’m sure they will be doing it in spades.
CROFTY MOVE BY MICHELLE
MICHELLE KEEGAN looks like she’s making a bid for Hollywood stardom with her latest look.
The actress, who quit Coronation Street in 2014 then took the lead in BBC1 army thriller Our Girl, has just been filming Sky comedy Brassic.
But as she left a posh hotel in central London at the weekend, she looked to be channelling Tomb Raider action girl Lara Croft.
The iconic role was first played in the original 2001 movie by Angelina Jolie and then in the 2018 reboot by Alicia Vikander.
They’re big shoes to fill, but I suppose the outfit is a step in the right direction . . .
TED TALK GETS ALL STEAMY
HUNKY Love Islander Teddy set hearts racing last night when he went speed dancing with the four available girls in the villa.
Rachel, Kaz, Faye and Sharon all joined the financial consultant from Manchester as it was the boys turn to pick in the re-coupling.
While new boy Teddy and Faye played footsie, he and Rachel turned the chat to orgasms with Rachel admitting: “It’s too sexy right now. The energy is hot.”
Meanwhile Millie and Liam took advantage of his partner Faye being out of the villa on her date and had their first snog leading to both them and Toby and Chloe sleeping outside.
As the game continued, Toby told Chloe: “I feel like a kid who has been let out to play.”
Failed to impress
SUNDAY Brunch chef Simon Rimmer failed to impress by “cooking” beans on toast with bourbon and peaches instead of just opening a tin of Heinz.
Hungry show guest, the former EastEnders star Samantha Womack, said: “It’s posh student food.”
SCHITT’S DAN MAN FOR RUTH
EAMONN HOLMES and Ruth Langsford are back for their summer stint on This Morning – and they have one guest they are desperate to get on the sofa for a chat.
Like millions of us, Ruth dived into the brilliant Netflix series Schitt’s Creek during lockdown and was quickly hooked on the Rose family’s hilarious antics.
Ruth – who will be back with Eamonn from today on ITV and the ITV Hub – said: “I love Schitt’s Creek and Dan Levy, who plays David Rose.
“I didn’t realise until I watched it that the whole idea was his – he wrote it – and Johnny in the series is his dad in real life.
“I saw a documentary about the series and they seem so lovely and funny. I’d love to interview Daniel.”
If anyone could make that happen, I’m sure you could, Ruth.
GRIMMY'S SCREEN DREAMS
CELEBRITY Gogglebox star Nick Grimshaw is planning more telly work after revealing last week he is quitting Radio 1.
The former X Factor judge has formed a likeable pairing with niece Liv commenting on the week’s telly on Channel 4 – and I expect telly execs are already sniffing around him.
He said: “It’s a big decision but the right one – I feel excited. I want to do some telly stuff and have a think about what else.
“I’ve been doing a daily show for 12 years so I just need space to think about what I wanna do.
“You just spend every day going, what are we going to do on the radio, what are we doing tomorrow? It’s nice to have a little gap where we’re not thinking about that.”
In 2018, Nick quit the Radio 1 Breakfast Show – his biggest gig to date – after six years in the job. He then took on the drivetime show and announced recently he was quitting that too.
He’ll now be replaced by I’m A Celebrity’s Jordan North And Strictly’s Vick Hope.
Here’s hoping his other TV projects go better than his stint on X Factor – which only lasted one series back in 2015.
