Daniel Craig bowed out as James Bond after No Time To Die’s surprise ending and speculation of who will replace him as the new 007 remains rife. The latest odds from Ladbrokes have seen a Game of Thrones and Netflix star overtake some big names like James Norton and Regé-Jean Page. In fact, the new frontrunner is now neck-and-neck with Tom Hardy.

The star in question is Tom Hopper, who played Dickon Tarly in HBO’s Game of Thrones.

The 36-year-old is also well known for portraying Luther Hargreeves in Netflix’s comic book series The Umbrella Academy.

Now considering the Brit is an established actor, but not too famous, could be to his advantage in the race to be the next 007.

After all, that was the case with Daniel Craig who was best known for Layer Cake when cast as Bond.

Additionally, at 36-years-old Hopper is pretty much the same age as Craig was when he starred in Casino Royale.

Ladbrokes said: “There’s been enough interest in Tom Hopper over the last few weeks for him to now be considered a firm frontrunner in the race to replace Daniel Craig.

“In fact, as things stand, he’s more likely than long-time favourite Regé-Jean Page to get the nod from 007 chiefs.”

As it stands, Hopper is on 4-1 with Hardy, while fellow Game of Thrones star Richard Madden leads the pack on 7-2.

Naomi Harris says Tom Hardy is too established for James Bond

No doubt there’s been much interest in the latter as he’s currently starring in Marvel movie Eternals and certainly looked the part in black tie at the premiere.

Other frontrunners for the next Bond are Regé-Jean Page on 5-1 and James Norton on 8-1.

Plus Henry Cavill on 8-1, Idris Elba on 10-1, Jamie Bell on 10-1 and Luke Evans on 12-1.

During an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Spectre and No Time To Die’s Dr Vogel actress Brigitte Millar said making the next James Bond will be very different.

The Bond actress said: “It’s very difficult also because of the audience. I think the audience is very divided. Even Spectre was already divisive because of the different opinion about it.”

While sharing her thoughts on Bond’s death in No Time To Die, Brigitte said: “I found it quite surprising. If you think of real agents, they get a new life.

“They get a new passport, they get a new face, they get a new identity and are relocated.

“And I thought it would be something along those lines. It would look as though he’d died, but in reality, he was given a new face, passport and life in South America or wherever.”
