Starz’s historical drama gives fans an insight into both the 18th and 20th centuries as it follows the life of time-travelling nurse Claire Fraser (played by Caitriona Balfe). However, fans noticed a huge mistake with her daughter’s Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton) journey from season four of Outlander.

Claire first discovered she could transport through time while she was on honeymoon with her first husband Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies).

Through the mysterious stones, she travelled back in time from 1945 to her exact location in the 18th century.

While on her adventure, the World War II nurse met Jamie Fraser and the two fell in love and got married.

Frank was surprised to see his wife was pregnant when she returned in 1948 but agreed to raise the child as his own, despite disputing her claims about time-travelling.

20 years later he was involved in a fatal crash after the couple had a heated argument.

As a result of his death, Claire decided to return to the past and reunite with Jamie.

For the first time, her daughter Brianna learned about her mother’s adventures as well the real identity of her father.

Claire was transported back to the past and Brianna decided to stay in order to complete her studies in Boston.

After witnessing a fire at Fraser’s Ridge in season four, she followed her mother and returned to the past to warn her parents about the blaze.

This is where fans uncovered the blunder, in the episode titled Down the Rabbit Hole when Brianna was preparing for her journey and made a snack.

Taking to screenrant.com, the viewer posted: “As the episode begins, we see Brianna making herself a sandwich for the trip, which she then clearly cuts into halves.

“Later on, when she unwraps the sandwich to eat it, the sandwich is whole again – certainly never cut in half at all,” they added.

Brianna’s mission was a success and she was able to save her parents lives but the cabin where they lived was completely destroyed.

The fire began after fellow time-traveller Wendigo Donner (Brennan Martin) and his accomplices decided to burglarize the home.

At the house they broke one of Claire’s containers which held the highly flammable ether.

Young Ian Fraser Murray (John Bell) who was in attendance lit a match and accidentally set the house alight and it burned down overnight.

Eventually, Brianna decided to reside in the past where she got married to Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) and gave birth to her baby Jemmy.

However, in season five, the family said their emotional goodbye as they intended to return back to the future.

In a surprising plot twist, as they thought of home with the stones, the trio’s plans failed and re-emerged back in the past after initially disappearing.

Fans will have to wait until the release of the upcoming season six to find out why this happened and what it means to the family’s future.
