BBC Breakfast star Dan Walker will be once again throwing some shapes in the iconic Strictly Come Dancing ballroom on Saturday night. He’ll be performing a Charleston with his professional dance partner Nadiya Bychkova this weekend. However, one of Dan’s BBC colleagues has spoken out about the star’s challenges as he attempts to balance his work with Strictly training.

In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, BBC weather reporter Owain Wyn Evans shared his thoughts on Dan’s Strictly Come Dancing journey so far.

Owain revealed he’s enjoyed watching his BBC Breakfast co-star perform in the celebrity dance contest.

“Oh my gosh, Dan is doing such a great job on Strictly,” the weather reporter remarked.

However, he went on to explain how challenging it is for Dan to balance his regular work with Strictly training.

Owain commented: “I completely sympathise with him and it is amazing how he is doing it because he has to, you know, he does his job as well.

“He’s getting up early and doing BBC Breakfast, then of course a chunk of the week is put aside for training for Strictly.

“But, having to juggle those things and get practically zero downtime is really tough.

“So yes, Dan is doing so well on Strictly,” he added.

The weather reporter confessed he’s always eager to see Dan’s new dance routines on the show.

Owain enthused: “Every week I’m like ‘Oh, I’m excited to see what he’s going to be doing next’.

“It’s really exciting for him and you know, he’s a great guy. So, it’s just fab,” he said.

When asked if he’d ever consider being a contestant on Strictly himself, Owain replied: “Oh my gosh, I think anybody would love to go on Strictly.

“I love watching the show. I love the spectacle of it and also what’s great about it is you see people go on it and they learn this new skill.

“Many of them don’t really have it to start off with, but then you know, as weeks pass you see them kind of developing and getting so much better.

“So, oh my gosh, I think anybody would want to be on Strictly, absolutely,” he concluded.

Strictly Come Dancing fans will see Dan and Nadiya perform a musical theatre themed Charleston for the show’s Musical Week on Saturday night.

The dance duo will perform their routine to Good Morning from the classic musical Singin’ In The Rain.

With only seven couples remaining in the competition, Dan and Nadiya will have to work hard to impress the judges and viewers at home.

As the contest heats up, another couple will be eliminated on Sunday night’s results show.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6:35pm on BBC One.
