With Roy Cropper (David Neilson) having been forced to temporarily leave the cafe – and move in with Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) – due to an electrical fault, Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) has been less than pleased at having a new, fellow lodger. However, she soon shows her actual affection for Roy, in her own unique way, when she strives to protect him from what she believes is a rogue electrician in Coronation Street. Unfortunately for Roy, it leads to him being attacked by a very unhappy Larry!
With Evelyn bickering at Roy and annoyed that she has to share a room with Ruby, Tyrone is forced to warn her that she can always find somewhere else to live – Roy is a friend and he can stay for as long as he wants. As Larry gives Roy a quote on the elctrical work for the cafe and gets started, savvy Evelyn smells a rat and reckons Larry is trying to pull a fast one.
Roy doesn’t want any trouble but Evelyn isn’t one to back down from a battle and before long, she is leaving online reviews that paint Larry in an unfavourable light. Assuming Roy to be behind the smear campaign, Larry will soon turn up and aggressively confront a shaken roy, grabbing him and yelling at him in the cafe.
New pictures on the ITV website have revealed the showdown and accompanying captions read: ‘Evelyn starts her smear campaign about Roy’s electrician Larry – we don’t think he’s going to take it very well!’
We reckon that’s an understatement if ever there was one.
But in the wake of this, will Roy be able to forgive Evelyn for putting him in that position? Will he be furious or will he see that her actions were meant to be supportive towards him?
Is there a hint of something more than friendship between this warring pair?
