Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) got more than she bargained for in Coronation Street when she learned that she was pregnant with quadruplets, and — after months of worry — she gives birth in the coming episodes, but her labour arrives at something of an inopportune moment.
For the past couple of months, Gemma and Chesney (Sam Aston) have been making frequent visits to the hospital to keep an eye on their babies, but — with worries aplenty — they’ve had a tough time. However, Bernie (Jane Hazelgrove) will only add to their problems, as Coronation Street has revealed that — in the coming episodes — Gemma discovers that her mum painted Chesney as a love-rat during her magazine interview, as she believed such a narrative made for a more compelling story.
Desperate to get away from the cobbles, Gemma and Chesney spend a day out at Llandudno. However, things don’t exactly go to plan, as Gemma goes into labour — while in a cable car!
After pulling the emergency brake, the cable car swings as Chesney calls an ambulance. The question is: will Gemma give birth up in the cable car? or will help arrive before hand?
Later at the hospital, Gemma can’t take her eyes away from her four new babies. However, her worries return when she learns that she’s being discharged — but that the babies have to remain at the hospital for the time being.
What’s more, Bernie’s actions leave her all the more disgruntled, as she discovers her mum has created an Instagram account for her quads.
However, Cathy (Melanie Hill) informs Gemma that she has used the Instagram account in order for them to get a free room at an upmarket hotel — that is, as long as they use ‘Cable Car Quads’ as promotion.
Coronation Street returns on Monday 21st October at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
