The Chase host Bradley Walsh was left frustrated during Monday's show as a player knocked the prize fund from £19,000 to £10,000.

During her cash-builder round, Kay made an impressive £7,000, but she then made controversial decision which cost her team thousands.

She took the low offer of minus £2,000, saying it was because she wanted to be in the final chase.

However, Bradley and viewers were confused as she had performed so well in her opening round.

Kay then did well in her round against chaser Jenny Ryan, making it back for the final chase, but costing the team £2k.

Viewers were furious, and some noticed Bradley seemed miffed too.

One said: "Love that Brad makes it very obvious he doesn't approve when player take a minus offer."

While another wrote: "Bradley's well p****d off."

A third penned: "Knocked potential from £19k to £10k if she’d took her cash builder, selfish."

"Kay has effectively denied the cash pot £9,000 – £3 grand light each!", fumed a fourth.

Chaser Jenny Ryan did however defend Kay as she said "it was perfectly reasonable" for her to make that choice.

She explained: "Possibly a little over cautious."

Jenny added: "It was a perfectly reasonable… you went back on yourself which shows a bit of lack of confidence."

Despite the hiccup, Kay performed well in the final chase and, in the end, the team of three managed to win their £10k prize fund.

They won with just one question to spare, taking home £3,333 each.

Jenny defended Kay once more as she added: "I needed one. Kay vindicated."

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
