The Masked Singer: Contestants take part in group performance

Sausage has proved to be one of this year’s The Masked Singer’s trickiest celebrity to identity. Sheridan Smith, Stacey Solomon and Stacey Dooley have all been linked with the meaty character but a group dance in Saturday’s ITV show could provide the biggest clue yet as to who is really hiding behind Sausage’s mask.

On Saturday, the remaining contestant’s will take part in a group performance of The Ting Tings track That’s Not My Name.

Sausage, Robin, Badger, Dragon, Blob, Harlequin and Viking each take it in turns to sing lyrics from the song.

In the spoiler clip shown on Lorraine, Dragon sings: “Don’t wanna be a loner. Listen to me, oh no.”

Robin continues: “I never say anything at all. But with nothing to consider they forget my name.”

“They call me hell,” Blob sings before Sausage adds: “They call me Stacey.”

Sausage’s voice sounds remarkably similar to Stacey Dooley and the character could be identifying themselves with a double bluff.

The clip continues with Harlequin singing: “They call me Her,” and Viking adding: “They call me Jane.”

All seven contestants then sing: “That’s not my name.”

Discussing the clip, Lorraine entertainment correspondent Ria Hebden said: “Now did you hear the line they said to Sausage.

“‘They call me Stacey’ but then ‘That’s not my name’ so lots of people speculating online that it could be Stacey Solomon.”

Does the huge clue prove a celebrity named Stacey is hiding behind the mask or could the lyrics hope to distract viewers from Sausage’s true identity?

The Masked Singer viewers remain divided over Sausage’s identity as one tweeted: “Sausage also said that someone told her she looked like a horse which is also what happened to Stacey. But then there’s a few clues in Sheridan and a LOT more clues in joss stone… the singing voice gives it away.”

“I think sausage now after seeing a preview clip this morning of tomorrow’s show it’s Stacey Dooley 100% the documentary maker #MaskedSingerUK @wossy @RitaOra @ThisisDavina @MoTheComedian @joeldommett,” a second wrote.

Someone else added: “@MaskedSingerUK Sausage is Stacey Solomon. No question! If you listen to her singing elsewhere, she has the same timbre. Also, the (awful) horse face trolling and DIY projects #maskedsingeruk.”

In Sausage’s most recent VT, she revealed: “The joy of this mask is that you’re totally trying to guess what I look like.

“I’ll be honest with you – someone once said I look like a horse.

“I do enjoy hiding my face behind this mask, although it’s not the first time I’ve made sure you can’t see my face in my work

“Tonight the chips are down, and I’m just hoping I can cut the mustard.”

On Saturday, The Masked Singer will see two celebrities unmasked in a double elimination.

Meanwhile, judges Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan will be joined by Alan Carr.

The Masked Singer continues on Saturday on ITV at 7pm.
