The rumors that Vicki Gunvalson from The Real Housewives of Orange County wouldn’t be returning as a full-time cast member appear to be true.
The last OG of the franchise does not appear in the new cast photo, which still surprised fans. Tamra Judge reposted the US Weekly cast photo and the comments started to flood her post. One person wrote, “I know Vicki can be a real B but she’s the one that started the Housewives and should be included!”
Even though cast members like Kelly Dodd insisted Gunvalson was not going to be a full-time cast member, fans still seemed shocked.
Gunavlson is posting, but not about ‘RHOC’
Just about every RHOC cast member posted the photo but Gunvalson. Instead, her latest Instagram post featured the “tres amigas.” She wrote, “Tres Amigas getting ready for season 14.”
She’s also been gushing about her engagement to Steve Lodge. She recently wrote, “Isn’t this the truth? How many have you found love again? Thanks @stevelodge_oc for asking me to lunch 3 years ago when I thought there weren’t any good men left. I love you.”
Otherwise, Gunvalson appears to be focused on her business and financial education. Recent tweets included links to financial articles and teaching children financial responsibility. “How to Teach Your Kids the Right Financial Lessons,” she wrote along with a link.
But she seems to be a big part of the show
Bravo released the RHOC trailer, which premieres on August 6. Although Gunvalson isn’t in the cast photo she does seem to be everywhere on the show. At least according to the trailer.
Dodd and Gunvalson, who became sworn enemies last season, seem to go head to head. The trailer shows the women arguing. At one point Dodd addresses the drug abuse accusations Gunvalson made about her during the reunion.
For the past few months, Dodd seemed to be poking the bear and taunting Gunvalson every chance she’s had. Dodd also wrote on Instagram that if Gunvalson is on the show, she’s walking away. “I won’t be on next year if she’s on.. I will not sell my soul for this show.”
End of an era
Although Gunvalson will still appear, the number of Real Housewives OGs is quickly dwindling. The franchise recently lost Lisa Vanderpump from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Vanderpump and Kyle Richards were the last original cast members of that franchise.
Also, when Nene Leakes left The Real Housewives of Atlanta, she was the only original cast member from that franchise. Thankfully for fans, Leakes has returned to the show. But franchises with true OG staying power seem to be both New York and New Jersey.
The only consistent OG New York cast member is Ramona Singer. However, Bethenny Frankel and Luann de Lesseps have left and returned. New Jersey’s last remaining OG is Teresa Giudice. While The Real Housewives of Potomac has the most remaining OGs (four women) the franchise has only been on the air for four seasons.
When Vanderpump departed the franchise, Bravo producer Andy Cohen made this observation. “You know, Nene left Atlanta for a spell, Bethenny left New York,” Cohen pointed out. “People come and go, but the show remains.”
