Boris Johnson appeared in an emergency broadcast on Sunday evening to outline the next stages of Britain’s reaction to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. While the Prime Minister urged the public to take up a third booster jab amid increased cases of Omicron, a number of BBC viewers were more concerned that his statement was eating into the start of the new episode of Top Gear. Presenter Paddy McGuinness took to Twitter before the show began to blast the last minute reshuffle.
Top Gear hosts Chris Harris, Freddie Flintoff and McGuinnes appeared more than ten minutes later than scheduled on Sunday.
Several Top Gear enthusiasts took to Twitter during the PM’s statement to lodge their complaints at the BBC.
Stephen Clark said: “Prime Minister delaying Top Gear. Not sure how that will go down with the voters.”
And Mark tweeted: “I for one won’t be taking any notice of it! P****d off it’s rescheduled Top Gear.”
“Boris’ car crash briefing delays our car programme,” quipped Top Gear fan Danny.
