Doctor Who is arguably the most famous sci-fi series in the world, having starred various actors in the lead role over the years thanks to Time Lords being able to regenerate. Actress Jodie Whittaker has filled in the shoes for the past three years but has now decided it’s her time to leave following series 13. So fans are expecting a lot from the latest six episodes which will start airing on Sunday, October 31, on BBC One.
Where is Doctor Who: Flux set?
If you’re a fan of the show then you would know that there is no exact answer to this question.
Doctor Who goes on adventures throughout space and time so the location changes in every episode.
So there is no exact setting for Doctor Who and season 13 will be no different.
But showrunner Chris Chibnall did tease that this new series is going to be “all one story, so each episode is a chapter in a bigger story”.
Where and when this will take place, however, hasn’t yet been revealed.
Where is Doctor Who season 13 filmed?
Shooting was originally scheduled for September 2020 but, as with plenty of other series, this was delayed thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.
Filming didn’t actually start on the sci-fi drama until November last year but the wait is now almost over with Doctor Who ready to return.
Previously, most of the scenes in the BBC One series were filmed in Wales.
This was the case once again for season 13 as the cast and crew returned to the beautiful country.
Some of the filming locations included Morlais Quarry in Merthyr Tydfil, Penwyllt Quarry, Neptune Court on Vanguard Way in Penarth and Cold Knap beach in Barry.
Shooting took place around Cardiff as well at The Parade, Neptune Court on Vanguard Way, Cardiff City Hall and the Wales Millennium Centre.
So those from around Wales may be able to recognise several of the backdrops in series 13.
Some filming did also take place in other areas around the country.

In March 2021, the cast and crew ventured to Liverpool to film at the Royal Albert Dock, Museum of Liverpool, the Church of St Luke and Metropolitan Cathedral and St George’s Hall.
A few scenes were filmed in Bristol as well later on in the year but the exact locations haven’t been specified.
Shooting for series 13 came to an end on Friday, October 15, for the Centenary Special at Roath Lock Studios.
Chibnall explained that he and Whittaker had originally planned to leave Doctor Who behind after working on three seasons together.
He said: “Jodie and I made a ‘three series and out’ pact with each other at the start of this once-in-a-lifetime blast.
“So now our shift is done, and we’re handing back the TARDIS keys.
“Jodie’s magnificent, iconic Doctor has exceeded all our high expectations.
“She’s been the gold standard leading actor, shouldering the responsibility of being the first female Doctor with style, strength, warmth, generosity and humour.
“She captured the public imagination and continues to inspire adoration around the world, as well as from everyone on the production.
“I can’t imagine working with a more inspiring Doctor – so I’m not going to!”
Doctor Who season 13 will premiere on Sunday, October 31, at 6.25pm on BBC One.
